Astronaut Col. Shane Kimbrough visited the hospital Thursday, meeting with children and their families through the Ryan Seacrest Studios.

The former International Space Station commander answered questions about life in space and shared words of encouragement, hoping to inspire the young patients to keep reaching for their dreams.

Kimbrough, who grew up in Smyrna and attended Lovett before earning his master’s degree from Georgia Tech, has spent more than a year in space during his career.
