Georgia Insurance Commissioner-elect Keisha Sean Waites is outlining her plans to address rising auto and homeowners insurance premiums across the state.

In an interview with Channel 2 Action News, Waites identified consumer protection and lowering insurance costs as top priorities. She also revealed three goals for her first 100 days in office:

1️⃣ Ban the use of credit scores and ZIP codes when determining insurance premiums.
2️⃣ Strengthen consumer protections and give Georgians more options to take action against insurance companies over alleged wrongdoing.
3️⃣ Streamline insurance regulations to encourage more companies to enter Georgia’s market and increase competition.

Waites says she also plans to closely scrutinize proposed rate increases and hold insurance companies accountable when consumers experience problems with claims.

Her plan comes as rising insurance premiums remain a major concern for Georgians.
