Atlanta is getting ready to welcome giant pandas back to Zoo Atlanta after nearly two years without the beloved animals. Chinese President Xi Jinping confirmed Thursday that two pandas, Ping Ping, 6, and Fu Shuang, 5, are expected to arrive in the coming days.

The announcement marks the revival of a partnership between Zoo Atlanta and China that dates back to 1999. The zoo’s previous pandas, Yang Yang and Lun Lun, along with their two youngest cubs, returned to China in October 2024, ending a decades-long chapter for the popular attraction.

The new arrivals are expected to bring excitement back to the zoo and continue the conservation partnership between the United States and China. Zoo Atlanta has not yet announced an official arrival date. 🇨🇳🇺🇸
