Atlanta Drivers Lost 87 Hours to Traffic in 2025, Report Finds

#wqeb973newz | Atlanta,GA-🚗 Why is Atlanta traffic so bad? It turns out the answer goes back more than 180 years.

A new look at the city’s history shows how Atlanta’s railroad beginnings, rapid suburban growth, expanding interstate system and decades of development helped create the gridlock drivers face today. According to the 2025 Texas A&M Transportation Institute report, metro Atlanta drivers lost an average of 87 hours to traffic in 2025—the highest level since the study began.

From roads originally built for wagons to today’s crowded highways, Atlanta’s transportation challenges have been generations in the making.
