Atlanta residents gathered in Summerhill to rally against a proposal that would relocate the iconic Olympic Cauldron Tower from its longtime home near the site of the 1996 Olympic Games. Supporters say the historic torch is a key part of the neighborhood’s identity and helps attract visitors to local businesses.

Georgia State University has proposed moving the landmark to Centennial Olympic Park, saying the relocation would better connect Atlanta’s Olympic legacy with downtown. Meanwhile, an online petition to keep the cauldron in Summerhill has already collected nearly 1,000 signatures.
