Fairburn Road In South Fulton To Close For Months For Bridge Construction

#WQEB973Newz | SOUTH FULTON, GA-Drivers in South Fulton should prepare for a major road closure as Fairburn Road is set to shut down for construction. 🚧

Both northbound and southbound lanes will close for several months while crews rebuild two aging bridges and maintain a 30-inch water main.

The closure will affect Fairburn Road from Benjamin E. Mayes Drive to Cascade Road. Drivers will be directed on a detour through the Perimeter, including I-285 and Lindbergh Drive.

The closure was originally expected to begin Monday, Oct. 5, but city officials said additional preparation could push the start to the middle of next week.

Fairburn Road is expected to remain closed until spring 2027, with the city targeting the end of March for reopening.
