Georgia Drivers Expected to See Gas Prices Rise After Tax Suspension Ends

#wqeb973newz | Atlanta,GA-⛽📈 Filling up in Georgia is about to get more expensive.

The state’s temporary gas tax suspension officially ended at midnight, meaning the 33-cent-per-gallon tax savings that drivers enjoyed will gradually disappear as stations replenish their fuel supplies.

While statewide averages remained below $3.80 per gallon Wednesday morning, industry analysts say prices could begin climbing quickly as retailers pass along the restored tax to consumers.

Some metro Atlanta stations were still offering gas as low as $3.38 to $3.44 per gallon early Wednesday, but those bargains may not last long.

Experts say the timing and size of price increases will vary by station, depending on when fuel inventories purchased during the tax holiday are depleted.
