A man has died and four others were injured following an incident on the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia in Cobb County, according to officials. Witnesses reportedly saw a man fall from the ride Monday, October 12.
Goliath, which opened in 2006, stands 200 feet tall, reaches speeds of 70 mph and features 4,400 feet of track. The ride has been shut down as authorities investigate the incident. Six Flags has also closed similar rides at its theme parks nationwide.
The coaster was previously the subject of a death investigation in 2006, when a 45-year-old man died after suffering a heart attack. Investigators determined the ride was operating properly at that time.
Authorities have not yet released additional details about the latest incident.
