Georgia Voters Could Decide Who Controls Board Overseeing Utility Rates

#WQEB973Newz |ATLANTA,GA- Georgia voters could help determine which party controls the five-member Public Service Commission, the board responsible for approving utility rate increases across the state. 🗳️⚡

Two Public Service Commission seats are on the ballot in the November midterm elections. The races could affect how Georgia’s utility rates are regulated, with data center growth and electricity costs among the key issues.

One race is a rematch between Democratic incumbent Peter Hubbard and Republican Fitz Johnson. The other features Republican Josh Tolbert and Democrat Shelia Edwards.

The candidates have discussed utility rates, clean energy, data centers and how electricity costs could affect Georgia residents. They are also scheduled to debate next Monday with the Atlanta Press Club.
