DeKalb Family Alleges Restoration Work Left Home Unlivable Due to Mold

#wqeb973newz | Stone Mountain,GA-🏠⚠️ A DeKalb County family says a home restoration project turned into a year-long nightmare.

A 79-year-old Stone Mountain homeowner has been unable to live in her home for more than a year after her family claims restoration work following a fire led to extensive mold damage. They allege repairs were delayed, proper ventilation wasn’t maintained, and county permitting issues further complicated the project.

DeKalb County confirmed it issued two stop-work orders related to permitting and code requirements at the property.

The independently owned SERVPRO franchise disputes the family’s allegations, saying it completed work within the approved scope, followed the direction of the homeowner, insurance carrier and local authorities, and maintained detailed documentation throughout the restoration process.

The family says they’re now considering legal action, though no lawsuit has been filed.
