Douglas County High School sophomore Erin Johnson is making history as the school’s only gymnast after helping launch the program herself. What began with a simple request to school administrators has grown into an opportunity to inspire future athletes and build something lasting.

Despite competing alone, Erin has earned standout scores, including an impressive 9.9 on the balance beam, while overcoming a serious neck injury that could have ended her gymnastics career. Her determination, resilience, and passion for the sport continue to turn heads across the state.

Even better? Next season, she won’t be alone — her younger sister is set to join the team as the program continues to grow.
