Families, including several children and infants, are now searching for a place to stay after a fire tore through part of the Uphill Flats Apartments in DeKalb County early Tuesday morning. 🚒💨
Residents say they woke up to screams of “fire, fire” as flames and heavy smoke spread through the building just before 7 a.m. One tenant claimed there were no working smoke alarms or fire extinguishers available during the emergency. ⚠️🔥
Firefighters quickly searched the building after reports that someone may have been trapped inside, but officials confirmed everyone made it out safely. 🙏
A total of four apartments are now unlivable, leaving 25 people displaced. Officials say most of the damage was contained to the interior of the building.
