The Mall at Stonecrest was locked down for hours Saturday after a shooting during an attempted armed robbery left one person injured. Police say the victim was shot in the hand and is expected to be OK, with two people arrested.

For nearby business owners, the impact went beyond the crime scene. “It’s going to affect everyone in the community,” said one owner, who described empty parking lots and lost foot traffic during what should’ve been a busy Saturday.

Police say there’s no ongoing threat, and the mall is expected to reopen Sunday during normal hours.
