Fulton County Awards Nearly $650K in Opioid Settlement Funds to Local Programs
#wqeb973newz | Atlanta,GA-💙 Programs in Fulton County are receiving a boost in the fight against the opioid crisis. County officials announced more than $644,000 in settlement funds will be distributed to five local organizations focused on treatment, recovery, prevention and harm reduction.
The funding is part of Georgia’s share of a national opioid settlement with pharmaceutical companies accused of overprescribing opioids. Local providers say the money will help expand detox services, medication-assisted treatment, peer counseling, workforce training and outreach for people struggling with addiction — including uninsured and high-risk populations.
County leaders say while overdose deaths have declined in recent years, concerns remain about fentanyl-laced drugs and access to long-term treatment, making continued investment critical.
