Decatur Lowers Speed Limits on Major Roads to Improve Safety

#wqeb973newz | Decatur,GA-🚦 A metro Atlanta city is slowing things down to improve safety. The city of Decatur, working with the Georgia Department of Transportation, is lowering speed limits on several state routes through DeKalb County starting this week.

City leaders say the changes are part of a proactive effort to reduce serious injuries and deaths involving drivers, pedestrians and cyclists. Updated speed limits range from 5 to 10 miles per hour lower on roads including College Avenue, Scott Boulevard and portions of State Route 155.

Officials say reduced speeds and new signage will roll out over the coming weeks, with a short education period before enforcement begins.
