NFL Player Honors Late Georgia High School Teammate With On-Field Tribute After Sudden Death

#wqeb973newz | Kennesaw,GA-🏈 A powerful tribute on the NFL stage.

During the league’s My Cause, My Cleats weekend, New England Patriots long snapper Julian Ashby honored his former Georgia high school teammate, Bryce Stanfield, who died suddenly in 2024 from a massive blood clot at just 21 years old.

Ashby took the field wearing custom cleats featuring Stanfield’s No. 97 jersey and the messages “Stanfield Strong” and “Be Like Bryce,” raising awareness for the National Blood Clot Alliance. The emotional moment allowed Bryce’s family to see part of his NFL dream live on at Gillette Stadium.

A reminder of friendship, legacy, and how sports can honor lives beyond the game. ❤️
