Georgia Ranks 6th Nationwide for Grocery Spending as Rising Food Costs Strain Budgets

#wqeb973newz | Atlanta,GA-🛒💸 Georgia ranks near the top for grocery spending nationwide

A new study shows Georgia shoppers spend more on groceries than residents in nearly every other state. According to research from Vesper Tool, Georgia ranks 6th in the U.S. for grocery spending, with residents collectively shelling out about $41.5 billion a year — roughly 7.5% of all spending statewide.

Experts say rising food prices, combined with Georgia’s large population of more than 11 million people, are driving the high total. While Mississippi leads in grocery costs as a percentage of spending, Georgia’s overall dollar amount far outpaces most of the country.

📊 The bottom line: grocery bills are taking a bigger bite out of household budgets — and Georgia is feeling it more than most states.
