Cobb County’s Austell Plaza Shut Down Over Major Fire Code Violations, Forcing Businesses to Close Before Holidays

#wqeb973newz | Austell, GA-Austell Plaza in Cobb County has been forced to shut down just weeks before the holiday shopping rush, leaving multiple small businesses scrambling to survive. 😟🛑

City leaders say the closure stems from serious fire suppression system violations that the property owner failed to fix, despite repeated warnings.

“We’re doing all that we can to assist the businesses… to no fault of their own,” Austell Mayor Ollie Clemons said.

Local shop owners say the shutdown has devastated their livelihoods.
💬 “I hate this for my community and my staff,” said Khaliq Superb Mabry, owner of A-Listers barbershop.
💬 Manager Mingi Kim of Angie’s Beauty & Wigs says they’ve already lost major revenue.

Austell’s fire chief confirms the entire building is out of code, with no agreement reached on providing required fire watch. Some stores, like Citi Trends, have stepped in to help cover fire-watch costs, allowing a few businesses to reopen.
