City of Atlanta Opens First Municipal Grocery Store to Fight Downtown Food Desert
#wqeb973newz | Atlanta, GA -Fresh change is coming to downtown Atlanta 🌱 The City just opened Azalea Fresh Market on Peachtree Street near Five Points, Georgia State, and Woodruff Park — bringing healthy, affordable groceries to an area long considered a food desert.
Backed by a $3.5 million city investment and run in partnership with Savi Provisions, the store gives students, residents, and workers easy access to fresh food within walking distance. 🛒✨
Mayor Andre Dickens: “They’re eating somewhere. They just have to drive to get it. But here, you can walk to come get it.”
Would you shop here if you lived downtown? 👀
